Crowd rebranded charitable organization Plastic Oceans Foundation and created a global marketing strategy to support their hard hitting documentary about plastic pollution

Helping create a sea change in opinion

Plastic Oceans is dedicated to removing waste plastic from our oceans. To do this it creates makes hard hitting films backed by some of the best scientific minds in the world. Our task was to create a new logo, a brand tone of voice, improve their website experience, and plan a digital marketing campaign to launch their film.

Both the film, and the campaign results are hard to ignore, including a 104% increase in total social media audience, and a 78% increase in donations. The film was also a great success with 10 Film Festival Awards, and a #1 position on Itunes in three countries.

Results?

“Off the charts” is a bit of a cliche, but in reality it does fit in this case, as the following successes have been achieved:

  • 104% increase in total social media audience
  • 360% increase in total social media engagement
  • 301% increase in social media referral traffic to their site
  • 1,000% increase in total website traffic
  • 24% increase in time spent on the website
  • 78% increase in donations

Meanwhile, A Plastic Ocean has also been an overwhelming success, and more importantly, has proven to be a powerful educational tool and agent of change. Accomplishments include:

  • #1 in iTunes in three countries
  • Successful launch on Netflix
  • Over 400 screenings in 60 countries
  • 10 Film Festival Awards

The film was also invited to the United Nations Ocean Conference, where Crowd assisted the Foundation in promoting, organizing and executing on an event that had over 600 dignitaries in attendance.

Crowd continues to produce amazing work for us in both traditional and digital marketing. Their revamp of our brand has greatly improved our ability to increase members and donations; and their level of service is second to none.
